Writers claim to be many things
Writers neglect to show their work through actual products however. They have courses, ebooks, threads that are "rah-rah" and "just start" but refrain from showing the numbers and history of what they've created.
They're showing you their highlight reel rather than giving you ALL the blunders and missteps.
I'm calling for a new way of showing work that proves you have gone through the swamp of suck and into the path to premium mediocre.
The analogues of fitness and sport development are the easiest to illustrate this concept. Regardless of who you are, you're starting at square one. You aren't going to get it right the first time. You aren't going to lift 1000 pounds the first time. The potential of becoming stronger or not failing again is what drives you.
In sport and fitness my rubric and path for athletes is as follows
Shit <-> Suck <-> Good <-> Great
Noticed how balanced it is - roasting you on one side and praising you on the other
This is my version of taking 10 years to become an overnight success. You are stuck in the mud of shit and suck until you reach the inflection point from suck to good.
THEN will people remember your name.
So how do we both 1. Start and 2. Get to the inflection point as soon as we can?
It can get frustrating to be in the perpetual shit and suck cycle.
The bad news is you are going to have to go through many iterations to get through it.
The good news is you can use the internet to be your coach.
